One month from today, Natalie and Noah will make a sacred promise as they join in marriage. We got to practice for bride-and-groom portraits by doing this engagement portrait session (always a perk for couples who book me to shoot their wedding). I must say, I've never had an engagement session quite like this one! I've never done a shoot on a 100 acre pasture, I've never had the bride-to-be pull a knife out of her pocket to cut down a branch that was interfering with one of my shots. Also, I've never been chased by cows and taken a serendipitous moment to engage in bovine photography (I do not anticipate niching down in this, Texan though I may be). But all these things happened at Natalie and Noah's session, and we had a blast! They chose this location because of the sentimental role it plays in their story: it's where Noah proposed to Natalie. And here is a fun part of their story: Noah hadn't actually planned to propose that night. He had been praying that God would show him just the right time, and he planned to be ready at any given moment. As the sunset was silently proclaiming God's glory through the skies, Noah felt like he had confirmation from the Lord and went ahead and popped the question! She said, "YES!"

So, Natalie & Noah,

Thank you for going along with all of my antics and instructions. You guys are absolutely adorable, and I love to see the energy and affection between you two! I'm beyond excited to shoot your wedding in just one month! Y'all are basically professionals at following my posing instructions!

By way of ending with a benediction, I might say something like, "May your life never be boring," but I really don't think there's any chance of that given how your photo session went, you know, with knives and cows and climbing mossy trees and all! So perhaps I would say:

May your lives always be as adventurous as your engagement shoot,

May you always giggle an smile at each other as sweetly as you do now, and

May you always be ready to do the Lord's bidding at any given moment.
